LIU Jian-zhong, LI Zhen-sheng, LI Ji-yun
1994, 2(1): 16-23.
Abstract(2549) PDF(2016)
Abstract:
Phosphorus defficiency, which seriously limits yields and distribution of crops,is a problem extensively existing in soils around the globe. The tendency of P-defficiency will be aggravated by both the ever increasing requirements for grains and energy crisis caused by population explosion in the world. Therefore, how to improve the efficiency of P-fertilizer and to mobilize the P absorbed and fixed in soil through developing the potentialities existing in plants will play an important role in improving grain yields, reducing production costs and protecting eco-environment.In this paper possibility of enhancing the bioefficiency of P is discussed and mechanisms and genetic studies of the differences in P nutrient characteristics of plants are also reviewed for the pourpose of providing theoretical basis for breeding new varieties which can efficiently utilize P fertilizer and tolerate P-defficiency.
Patterns and Tactics for Agro-economic Development in ECOTONE--A Case Study from Panxi Region in Sichuan Province
WANG Xiao-guang
1994, 2(1): 24-30.
Abstract(1256) PDF(845)
Abstract:
Panxi area in Sichuan Province is unique because of its diversity in mineral deposits and abundant water energy and vertical climatic resources. But the backward agriculture restricts it to become a heavy industrial base in future. The author holds that the cause of the poverty in Panxi area was its inferior resources such as drought and ECOTONE neglected.Based on evaluation of the inferior resources a multi-goal pattern of eco-economic development was put forward,in which ecology, grain production and acquiring rich combined as a whole were transformed in structure to form a coordinated regional developing system.
The Change of Precipitation During the Recent 40 Years and Its Influences on Climatic Productivity in China
PAN Ya-ru, GAO Su-hua, GUO Jian-ping
1994, 2(1): 31-36.
Abstract(1078) PDF(909)
Abstract:
Features of space-time variation of precipitation during the recent 40 years in China and its influences on plant climatic productivity were analysed based on the data from 350 meteorological stations evenly distributed all over China from 1951 to 1990.The results show that rainfall significantly changes with time and region, and its influence on crop yield is becoming smaller.

Nutrient Contents in Paulownia and Soil and Their Effects on Witches'Broom
Ding Wei-xin
1994, 2(1): 49-55.
Abstract(1106) PDF(844)
Abstract:
The paper deals with the relationship between contents of available nutrients in soil and nutrients in Paulownia leaves by using comparative analysis,The relation between P/Cu,P/Fe,P/Zn and P/K in soil and that in Paulownia leaves is significant positive correlation (r=0.918**).This shows that there is a relationship between incidence of Paulownia withches' broom and contents of available nutrients in soil and of elements in leaf.Low phosphorus and high copper contents in soil and the antagonistic action among elements in soil and in plant are the reasons that the contents of potassium and copper in Paulownia leaf are exorbitant and manganese and phosphorus are deficient. So the proper ratios of P:K,Fe:Mn and Cu:Mn are disrupted by the excessive potassium and copper in the leaf ,which,in turn, interferes the normal metabolism of Paulownia and reduce its resistance to witches' broom.

Corn Starch Gel and Plant Tissue Culture I. Effects of Corn Starch Gel Medium on Differentiation and Growth of Malus Zumi and M26
JIAO Shun-xing, CHEN Wen-long
1994, 2(1): 62-67.
Abstract(1247) PDF(1037)
Abstract:
Studies showed that corn starch (CS) as medium gel for tissue culture of Malus zumi and M26 not only raised rooting rate of shoot segments to 87-98%,which was 34% higher than Agar medium, but also had synchronizing effects on rooting induction. When in proliferating culture CS medium promoted differentiation of shoots, especially increased chlorophyll content and width of the seaves.Nevertheless the height of M. Zumi plantlet was relatively inhabited, while the stem width was increased.Such effects of CS gel medium were belived to be mainly dependent on bioactive factors possibly in CS.The authors suggested that CS gel medium could replace Agar to reduce medium cost and be employed in micropropagation of Malus species.
