Sustainable Agriculture is an Effective Way of Improving Rural Economy and Protecting Ecological Balance
BIAN You-sheng
1994, 2(2): 25-29.
Abstract(905) PDF(794)
Abstract:
Results of ten years' study at Liuminying village,Daxing county,Beijing showed that developing sustainable agriculture can fully and rationally utilize natural resources, ensure a continuous and steady growth of agricultural output, while rural agro-ecological balance is preserved. There were three main practices in Liuminying village for sustainable agricultural development, that are firstly turn traditional single structure of plantation into overall development of farming, forestry, animal husbandary and sideline, secondly by cycling fully use agricultural organic wastes, thirdly explore new energy sources and combine solar energy with ecological energy to form a new energy network.By those measures great ecological benefit and social benefit had been achived.
Studies on Sustainable Development of Water-saving Agriculture
JIA Da-lin, SI Tu-song, WANG He-zhou
1994, 2(2): 30-36.
Abstract(1085) PDF(771)
Abstract:
Based on several years study at Shangqiu Experimental Station, and features of drought,water-logging and soil salinization in part of Huang-Huai-Hai Plain and water shortage situations in China,it was pointed out in this paper that the bases for sustainable development of water-saving agriculture in this region is to develop high-production,high-quanlity and high-efficiency agriculture by controlling water, increasing soil fertility, adjusting agro-structure and breeding new varieties. The main limiting fctor to sustainable agricultural development is water shortage, then increasing water use efficiency is the key to solve water crisis in this region.
The Influences of CO2 Concentration Doubling on Growth and Development,Yield Formation and Germination Percentage of Winter Wheat
WEN Min, WANG Chun-yi, GAO Su-hua, PAN Ya-ru, BAI Yue-ming
1994, 2(2): 37-42.
Abstract(965) PDF(924)
Abstract:
The diagnostic experiment of influences of CO2 concentration doubling on winter wheat was conducted by using OTC-1 open top chamber. The results showed that when CO2 concentration was doubled in the chamber, growth and development, leaf area index, biomass and yield were all greatly increased compared with those in normal CO2 condition. This suggested that the increase of CO2 concentration in atmosphere will have positive effects on plant growth.
Population Supporting Capacity of Land(PSCL) in Dabie Mountainous Region in Hubei Province
ZHANG An-lu
1994, 2(2): 43-51.
Abstract(970) PDF(802)
Abstract:
Based on analysis and evaluation of the agro-resources and classification of land resource zone and type district, the primary potential productivity and population supporting capacity of land resource in Dabie mountainous region in Hubei Province were estimated by using mathematic models such as GM grey system model, exponential regression model and so on.The results show that the future of PSCL in 2000 is not optimistic.According to low population growth scheme the farmers' living standard in this area can only get to the state of warm and well fed type, and main agricultural products will be short except grain and plant oil. Then some eco-economic countermeasures must be taken to harmonize the relationship among land, population and environment.
Effects of Cultivation Techniques for High-yield and High-benefit Growing of Foxtail Millet
GU Shi-lu, GUO Zhi-li
1994, 2(2): 52-57.
Abstract(948) PDF(794)
Abstract:
Results from experiments and investigations showed that by stereoscopic (band shaped) growing millet and soybean together plus techniques for preventing blighted grains and increasing plump grains of millet, land equivalent coefficient was increased, physiological processes in millet were improved, and also leaf area index, net assmilation rate, yield of dry matter and number of plump grain greatly increased. So this technique should be applied to millet planting.

Abstract(964) PDF(737)
Abstract:
Density, quantity of fertilizer dressing, ratio between intercropping crops, ways for calculation yield and total output in intercropping research were discussed in relation to the whole intercropping system and ecology theory, then conception of crude density, ecological density and standardization yield and total output were used to solve the problems in calculation of real area, whole area, yield and total output of intercropping crops in this paper,By combination of proportion of row with proportion of crops the spacing and population of intercropping crops can be described.
An Approach Confirming The Representative Regions of an Agroecological Experimental Station--A Case Study from Changwu Agroecological Exprimental station
NIE Qing-hua, SONG Gui-qin
1994, 2(2): 62-68.
Abstract(993) PDF(834)
Abstract:
In this paper with Changwu Agro-ecological Experimental Station as an example and based on the information from Chinese agricultural comprehensive divisions, the probable representative regions of an agroecological experimental station was studied with county as elementary unit. Through analysis of the regional features, thirteen identification factors were screened. The relative important extent of every factor was put in order by using the analytic hierarchy process. Then fuzzy dicernment was carried out based on the standardization of the data range, and the closeness degrees between Changwu and every screened county were calculated.According to the principle of choosing closeness the representive region of Changwu Agro-ecological Experimental Station was confirmed.

A Preliminary Report on Planting Grasses Around Reservoirs Both As Sources of Fish feed and Preventive Means Against Silt Deposit
LI Ke-yun, SHENG Wen-liang, SUN Xiang-gui
1994, 2(2): 75-80.
Abstract(910) PDF(850)
Abstract:
For the purpose of fully utilization of natural resources and reducing silt deposit, protecting and improving the eco-environment in reservoir areas,high-productivity and top quality grasses such as Loium X Hybidum Hausskn,Pennisetum Purpureum Schumach and Hemarthria were planted on islets, banks, barren hills and among seedling trees in Baibeichong Reservior area.As a result the fish production in the reservior was increased from 1000 kg to 7000-8000 kg,silt deposit reduced by 5,160 cubic meters each year. This indicates that with low investment, short periods and good results this method is effective in solving the shortage of fish feed, increasing fish yield and reducing silt deposit in reserviors.

LIU Meng-yu, WAN Xin-yuan, SUN Jia-ling, Toshiaki Tadano, Shinobu Inanaga
1994, 2(2): 81-84.
Abstract(953) PDF(807)
Abstract:
The effects of irrigation and fertilizer on the yield of winter wheat growing on non-irrigated land in Heilonggang region with different pattern of annual rainfall from 1989 to 1993 were conducted. The results show that fertilizer is very important to the yield of winter wheat and poor soil is the main Limiting factor in normal and wet years. In dry years shortage of water is the main limitation factor, applied one time irrigation the yield could be doubled. On basis of one time irrigation,100kg/ha for N and 70 kg/ha for P2O5 dressing could also double the yield. Then increasing fertilizer is an important mean to improve non-irrigated winter wheat yield in this area.
